How are you? Have you finished your Internship requirements and what are your plans for the next few months?
It must be more difficult being without your family now that your Sister has returned home.
My Grandsons are now in school and my daughter in law is still here as she wanted to make sure they were settled in their routines.
I am fine and this Wednesday we have our first Volunteer meeting for this semester.
Take good care of yourself and my best to your family and Eunice.

Forgive me for not answering sooner. My computer had crashed and was not available.
I was so pleased to learn that you are taking time for yourself and visiting other places of interest. This State has so much beauty, you do not have to travel too far to find it.
I have met another student from Taiwan, her name is Kokoru. She is here to earn Masters in Gerontology. I think she is a bit overwhelmed and I would love to introduce her to you.
I watched the movie Yi Yi the other night, made in Taiwan, have you and Eunice seen it.? Would love to learn your comments.

請原諒我未能快些回妳信。我的電腦之前壞了無法使用。
知道妳有機會為自己花些時間去拜訪妳有興趣的地方(Santa Barbara)，我替妳感到開心。加州是如此的美麗，而妳不需到太遠的地方旅行，就可以體驗加州之美。
我認識了另外一位也是來自台灣的學生，她的名字叫做Kokoru. 她正在攻讀老人學碩士的學位，我想留學生活對她而言，似乎壓力很大而讓她不知所措，我希望能把她介紹給妳。
某天晚上，我看了一部叫做『一一』的台灣電影，妳和Eunice有看過這部電影嗎？我想知道妳們對於這部電影的評論。

Dear Ariel,
Thank you for offering to speak with Kokoro, I will give her your information.
About Taipei, I had been to China in 1983 and so I expected it to have a similar look. I assumed twenty five years had not brought about the changes that it had.
During Olympics I was astounded to see the changes in China and so I was also surprised by the very, very modern Taipei. In one scene the young couple are in a cafe and there was a large sign in background that read New York Bagels. Underneath it said H and H Bagels, which I know are considered best ones in New York City. Yes, that was a culture shock.
I thought the relationships and characters in the movie were very well defined. I thought the action was confusing at times and that the editing was at fault. Curious as to Eunice's thoughts. Overall I did enjoy the film.
Hope you have many plans for traveling , have fun. Take good care of yourself.

關於台北，我只有在1983的時候到過中國大陸一次，因此，我想台北或許和中國大陸的風貌類似。但沒有想到，二十五年竟然會為這個城市帶來如此大的改變，這是出乎我意料之外的。在北京奧運期間看轉播，我是如此驚訝於中國大陸的變化，因此，我也對於電影『一一』裡那非常、非常現代化的台北，感到驚訝。在電影裡的一幕，一對年輕的夫妻就坐在一間咖啡廳裡，而那間咖啡廳就然有一個大招牌─ New York Bagels ─在招牌的下方寫著H and H Bagels，我知道在紐約，這家焙果店被認為是最好的焙果店。 是的，我經歷了文化衝擊。
我認為電影裡的人物關係與角色都定位地非常好。有時候有些情節有些令人困惑，剪接也似乎有些問題。很好奇Eunice的看法會是什麼。但總體來說，我挺喜歡這部電影。
希望妳有許多的旅行計畫，能夠充實愉快。好好保重。

Thank you so much for speaking and meeting with Kokoru. I imagine it must have meant a great deal for her to be able to speak with someone with similar questions about life styles and various adjustments.

I cannot express to you easily, how wonderful it was to see you. You have matured so much in the past two and half years. You are self assured and carry yourself with much more confidence. I can only imagine how pleased your parents will be to see you and the changes they will observe. Their wish was for you to gain many new experiences, you have succeeded.

Dear Ariel,
Kokoro has told me that you have been ill with a very bad cold. I am so sorry that I had not been in touch upon your return.
I hope your visit home was wonderful for you and your family. I know how difficult it is to have a child so far away. When my son comes, I savor every moment of his stay and it is always too short.
I watched a great deal of the Inauguration, did you? Does Obama's election really make so much of a fuss overseas as our American press is saying. Hope he can accomplish most of his goals.

It is a beautiful day. I hope you are doing something enjoyable. I am looking forward to a friend's visit who moved to Colorado several years ago. I miss her and do not get too many opportunities to see her.

Hi,
It was a good and very pleasant visit on Saturday. Thank you for the fried rice.
I enjoyed eating it the next day also. Please send me list of ingredients, do you hand chop the vegetables you add. The pieces are so uniform in size, I could never do that. So mine will not look the same ha, ha.
Caty used the candles on my great granddaughters cake yesterday and everyone ooohed and aheed. Please thank your sister.
Please express my thanks to your Mother for the lovely jewelry, I adore hand crafted objects, they give me a great deal of pleasure. It is a wonderful feeling for me to be remembered by your family.

My dear Ariel,
I am fine, busy with family. My son is here for three weeks from Jakarta. We have been having many family functions. This week we celebrated Passover on Wednesday, lots of eating. Sunday we will be at my Granddaughters for Easter and egg hunt for the great Grandchildren.
Hope you are well and enjoying Southern Calif. Have you been doing any traveling on the week ends? I realize it is getting closer to your departure date for home. I will miss seeing you but hope we will continue to stay in contact. I will be most anxious to know how your life is progressing.
I have been watching some student films on PBS, is Eunice involved with any of these?
Would love to see you soon, when are you free to visit me or meet me at FOOD.

Ariel dear,
I am so happy to learn that you will travel to the East Coast. Which cities will you be visiting? You know how much I like to travel and how excited I always am when planning a trip. Now I will share your curiosity and adventure.
I very much look forward to seeing you whenever it is convenient for you. On Sundays I usually go to FOOD at about 11, if you would like to do that you can meet me at the house and we can go later in the day. Or if you are free on a Saturday I can make lunch at my house.
I am happy for you that you will be going home to family. At the same time I will miss you and the time we spent together. The opportunity to see you mature and be more comfortable in your Los Angeles surroundings has been very rewarding for me.
I know we will keep in touch, for I will want to know how your life is progressing.
